As far as fun places to visit in the Midwest go, Turkey Run State Park in Indiana makes it to the top of many peoples’ lists. Turkey Run State Park in Indiana doesn’t disappoint when it comes to Midwest hiking and it’s the perfect location for an adventurous engagement session.
As a husband-and-wife photo and video team who love the outdoors, we are always excited when we get to go on a hiking adventure with other couples. Whether it’s for an engagement session or adventurous couples photos, we love getting to explore the beauty of Turkey Run State Park any time of year!
Turkey Run State Park
Each time I visit this state park, I forget I’m in Indiana. This was one of the big reasons why I wanted to capture an adventurous couple photo session at sunset in this beautiful gem of a location right here in Indiana.
There are a couple of amazing spots throughout the park that I really love. And depending on the lighting or the time of day, some trails work better than others for photos.
Some of my top favorites are playing in the water in Sugar Creek, crossing the Suspension Bridge, the hike to Punch Bowl, and wide shots in Rocky Hollow just to name a few.
Turkey Run Adventure Session
Rachel + Josh
Rachel + Josh love spending time outside together—that has been a huge part of their relationship so going for a spring sunset hike was right up their alley. Before their session, we enjoyed a picnic right outside of the park trails. Picnics are an amazing element that couples can include in their sessions. A picnic can be as chill or as fancy as you want it, but who doesn’t love a picnic during a hike?!
When it was time for sunset, we adventured through trails as Jonathan and I captured Josh + Rachel together. Their smiles. The ways they looked at one another. Their playfulness. The joy of being outside on a beautiful night with each other. It was amazing and gentle and sweet.
Adventure Engagement Session
Aimee + Jaime
Aimee + Jaime wanted engagement photos at Turkey Run—it was their dream session location! When they found me, they reached out right away and even shared that they loved the way we capture nature and couples in love. *cue teary eyes*
Aimee + Jaime have a beautiful love that was so much fun to document. With a crisp fall morning surrounded with the glory of fall, they were completely themselves and nature was at its finest.
Justin + Annie
Justin + Annie wanted a beautiful hiking space for their engagement session and they brought along their pup, Watson! The beautiful sunshine, fall leaves, and cool temps were absolute perfection for their weekend adventure session.
These two explored and played their way through their sunset engagement session and it was truly a delight to capture the two of them together.
Diana + Richie
Anytime a couple reaches out and says they want to hike for their engagement photos, I can barely contain my joy. Diana loves to hike so that’s what they decided to do for their engagement photos!
Diana + Richie’s session was beautiful and spring had arrived. The morning sunshine was out, the leaves were growing, and everything was lush from the rain for their engagement session.
