For a couple like Sami + Cole, they wanted something different from engagement photos in a meadow or on a hiking trail. But more importantly, they wanted photos that represented their love story.
This took some brainstorming as we thought through all the amazing locations around Indy that might fit the ticket for Sami + Cole. We communicated often and collaborated as we figured out the details. When we got everything planned, it was cool to see how their love story intertwined with the locations chosen.
Engagement Photos at Punch Bowl Social
Sami + Cole met on a blind date in Indianapolis. Their first date was at Punch Bowl Social in Indy and they sat in the booth at the front of the building and ordered milkshakes.
At the end of the date as they were saying goodbye outside of Punch Bowl Social, Cole raised his hand to wave goodbye to Sami. Sami thought that Cole was wanting a high-five. She ended up running up to give him a high-five not realizing this. They laughed so hard and created a memory that will last forever.
Punch Bowl Social in Indy was a perfect and unique location for Sami + Cole. Not only is it aesthetically beautiful and fun, but it also is where they met. It held significance to them. The booth where we photographed them was where they sat on their first date.
And shout-out to the staff at Punch Bowl Social in Indy! They suggested the best days and times for us to come in to do this so that we could capture the photos that Sami + Cole wanted. They were helpful and we were able to get the photos that recreated some special moments from Sami + Cole’s first date.
Engagement Pictures in Indy
Not far from Punch Bowl Social in Indy is the Indianapolis State Capital building. It is an epic beauty of a building with its iconic dome. I learned that Sami used to work in the government and was an intern for senators so having the Capital building in the background was just another touch to connect this couple’s session to their journey.
Parking garages give a unique vibe to photo sessions-especially rooftop parking garages. They create space for a bird’s eye view to the busy city, yet also house a relaxed atmosphere for the couple being photographed because it is slightly removed from the hustle and bustle.
The best part is that there are tons of different parking garages to choose from in cities! This one happened to be a perfect fit for this couple, and I would love to scope out some other cool spaces like this in Indy because it was so much fun to photograph at.
